Process Locomotives

The plant locomotive often moves more raw materials and finished product than any other piece of equipment in the manufacturing process.  Process Locomotives are designed to interface with the manufacturing and materials handling processes in order to achieve optimum efficiency, reliability, and safety while operating at minimum costs.  When planning a facility that will require in-plant switching the type of locomotive selected can make significant differences in the track layout, the type of loading and unloading equipment to be installed, the crew size required, and the cost to operate and maintain all of the equipment.

Many plant managers have often avoided locomotives because they considered them to be too much trouble to operate and maintain.  What they wanted was a locomotive that would be user friendly, a one or two person operation, highly reliable, safe, clean, quiet, easy to maintain, and equipped with state of the art controls that are compatible with their plant process equipment.  They wanted a "Process Locomotive" and at a price that is comparable with the larger mobile railcar movers and used locomotives.  We saw the market in 1993 and have spent the last eight plus years developing and custom building units for specific customer requirements.   We now offer new, new/remanufactured, and reconditioned four or six axle units from 330 HP to 3300 HP and from 80 tons to 210 tons.  All units are designed to operate only on 56-1/2 inch gage track.
