There are four basic types of railcar progressors and they are listed in order from the lowest capacity to the highest capacity as follows:
1. Low Dog Single or Dual Side - pushes low on the truck frame 2. Axle Pushers - pushes or pulls on the railcar axle 3. High Dog Dual Side - pushes high on truck frame 4. Coupler Pullers - pulls or pushes on railcar coupler
